The most expensive homes are found in the federal state of Hamburg, where the average house price is over $1 million. A two-bedroom apartment in this region costs on average $486,400. 

The federal state of Berlin has the second most expensive properties, with an average house price of $978,000 and an average apartment price of $409,600. 

Bavaria is the third most expensive in terms of real estate prices, with the average price of a 2,000-sqft home at $744,000, and that of a 800-sqft apartment at $347,200. 

Saxony-Anhalt is the most affordable federal state to live in. Here, you can buy a home for an average price of $274,000 or an apartment for $124,000.

The highest home prices in Germany are in the federal state of Hamburg, where a 200-sqm house costs €1,044,800, on average, and a 75-sqm apartment sells for €446,300. 

In the German state of Berlin, the second most expensive region, an average house price is €956,400, while buying an apartment costs €375,500, on average. 

The cheapest property in Germany is located in the federal states of Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Saxony.

Munchen is the most expensive city to buy a house in Germany, with an average price of $1,804,000 for a house and $656,800 for an apartment. 

In Frankfurt, a house costs on average $1,090,000, and an apartment costs on average $431,200.

For instance, the average price of a house for sale in Berlin is €944,200, in Hamburg €1,044,600, in Munchen €1,764,800, in Koln €1,023,200 and in Frankfurt €1,067,000. 

A 75 square meter apartment costs around €372,000 in Berlin, €450,000 in Hamburg, €602,000 in Munchen, €351,000 in Koln, and €395,000 in Frankfurt.
